Metal Detoxification Research and Findings

Dr. Garry F. Gordon has done more research on the uses of EDTA for chelation therapy than any other human on the planet earth.

Dr. Gordon is truly the "Father" of chelation therapy in the world.

Much of the data about oral EDTA was originally published so long ago that it has not been brought into the Internet Age by publication in an electronic form.  Many of the references in these pages can easily be found in any good library, but not likely on the Internet, except because of the efforts of Dr. Gordon.

Long before the current era of the popularity of intravenous EDTA, the ONLY form of EDTA known was for oral use, primarily for exact same use which the IV form is now used for -- the removal of lead from the body.

Even today a toxic measurement of body lead would be routinely treated with EDTA chelation, and would be covered by most health insurance.  The dismal truth is, however, that lower levels of lead, still very dangerous, are not considered "toxic enough" to warrant insurance reimbursement.  So, you have to put up with the lead until your body gets really sick before you can get insurance reimbursement.

Gordon is probably the most brilliant man in medicine today.  I do not say this lightly, but based on reading hundreds of pages of his material, spending days with him personally, and listening to his recorded lectures (available from this web site).

Dr. Gordon received his Doctor of Osteopathy in 1958 from the Chicago College of Osteopathy in Illinois.  He received his Honorary MD degree from the University of California Irvine in 1962 and completed his Radiology Residency from Mt. Zion in San Francisco, California in 1964.  For many years, he was the Medical Director of Mineral Lab in Hayward, California, a leading laboratory for trace mineral analysis worldwide.  Dr. Gordon is on the Board of Homeopathic Medical Examiners for Arizona and is Co-Founder of the American College for Advancement in Medicine (ACAM).  He is Founder/President of the International College of Advance Longevity (ICALM) and Board Member of International Oxidative Medicine Association (IOMA).  With Morton Walker, DPM, Dr. Gordon co-authored The Chelation Answer.  He is advisor to the American Board of Chelation Therapy and past instructor and examiner for all chelation physicians.  He is responsible for Peer Review for Chelation Therapy in the State of Arizona.  As an internationally recognized expert on chelation therapy, Dr. Gordon is now attempting to establish standards for the proper use of oral and intravenous chelation therapy as an adjunct therapy for all diseases.  (source)

He is obviously not a handmaiden of the drug industry.  That alone sets him far apart from the great majority of medical researchers and writers.  Yet his logic and science are irrefutable.

I, Karl Loren, am NOT a primary researcher, nor am even close to the student of biochemistry that Dr. Gordon is.  I do have a viewpoint of health matters, however, that is different from that of Dr. Gordon.

Nonetheless, his data and opinions on many matters related to biochemistry, and particularly related to his non-drug approach to health, and MOST particularly to his understanding and championing of the substance, EDTA, lead me to accept his data and conclusions as senior to any single other person in the health field.

I commend his materials to you for a full and accurate understanding of the role of oral EDTA in the health of this planet, and your life.

Do not look, here, for whatever variances there might be between myself and Dr. Gordon.  We are friends, competitors and we have no current financial relationship.  I write these words, and publish these pages out of admiration of Dr. Gordon, but more appropriately because he has become THE source of terribly vital information relating to heart disease, cancer, and a host of other health problems.

Dr. Gordon espouses many different "substances" for improving health.  Virtually NONE of these are prescription drugs.  Of all his recommendations, the artificial amino acid, called "EDTA," is probably the most important to the health of today.  His lectures on health matters are jewels of valuable data -- don't miss them.

I have become an "expert" on the subject of "oral chelation," but my expertise is NOT of the same fashion as of Dr. Gordon.

He has developed and sells a product which is competitive to my three oral chelation formulas.  I have learned a lot from him.  I consider my formula "better" than his, but I also freely state that his is an honest and effective oral chelation formula.

Unfortunately for the world, there are literally hundreds of greedy and fraudulent people who have, are and will tout "formulas" with the label of "oral chelation," but which have none of the ingredients that would allow them to be honestly labeled with that term.  I have a list of these HERE.  There are 34 references on that page -- to full page descriptions of some competitive product -- most of these are worthless frauds.

These pages, on this web site, present information originally gleaned by Dr. Gordon, but also additional information I have found to be useful.

The most dangerous of heavy metals, in causing heart disease and cancer, is lead.

In fact, we have many doctors CHOOSING to bill insurance for heavy metal toxicity, which may clearly be warranted in some cases depending on the numbers seen in the provocative test etc. Since blood lead is now completely discredited for making ANY diagnosis regarding heavy metal body burden, because it only reflects recent exposure and since Everyone's bones average 1000 times more lead than seen in bones tested as recently as 500 years ago, the issue regarding who has lead toxicity warranting treatment is an individual matter, between the doctor and the patient.
